The Madison Metropolitan School District has appointed Nasif K. Rogers as senior executive director of schools and learning, bringing a leader with experience in teaching, school administration and equity-focused systems change into a senior district role.
Rogers has worked in education for 17 years, serving as a teacher, principal, associate principal, director of equity and national director of diversity, equity and inclusion. Most recently, he was director of strategy and a proactive systems change coach with Integrated Comprehensive Systems for Equity and Proactive Special Education Consultants.
His previous roles include director of equity for the Wauwatosa School District and leadership positions with the Glendale–River Hills and Nicolet Unified school districts. He is also a founding board member and vice president of Future Urban Leaders, a Milwaukee nonprofit focused on youth leadership, academic support, civic engagement and wellness. Rogers teaches graduate-level educational leadership courses at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
MMSD Assistant Superintendent of Schools and Learning Carlettra Stanford said Rogers’ experience in instructional leadership, collaboration and equity work would strengthen the department’s support for students, educators and school communities.
Rogers grew up on Chicago’s South Side and graduated from Chicago Public Schools. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history and educational studies from Ripon College and a master’s in educational leadership from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership and policy analysis at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
“I look forward to listening, learning and building relationships across the district,” Rogers said, adding that he hopes to help strengthen schools and expand opportunities for students to thrive.
