Madison school shooting case moves toward trial after father pleads not guilty
Jeffrey Rupnow, accused of giving weapons to his teenage daughter before the 2024 Abundant Life Christian School shooting, had a not guilty plea entered Tuesday. His trial is scheduled to begin March 9, and he faces up to 18 years in prison if convicted on all counts.
A not guilty plea was entered Tuesday for Jeffrey Rupnow, the 44-year-old father charged in connection with the deadly 2024 shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison.
Rupnow remained silent as the plea was entered, according to the court proceeding reported Oct. 13. He faces two counts of intentionally providing a dangerous weapon to a minor and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Prosecutors allege that Rupnow allowed his teenage daughter to access guns despite her history of mental health issues and online activity. The allegations have not been proven in court.
On Dec. 16, 2024, the teenager opened fire at the school, killing a student and a teacher and injuring several other people. She also died in the shooting.
Rupnow is scheduled to appear for a pretrial conference Nov. 11. His trial is set to begin March 9. If convicted of all charges, he could face a maximum of 18 years in prison.
