Janesville schools, Orfordville fire district to receive federal aid after April flooding
FEMA approved more than $898,000 for recovery work by the Janesville School District and Orfordville Fire Protection District. The funding covers emergency measures during April’s storms and flooding, along with repairs to a fire station.
Two public agencies in Rock County will receive a combined nearly $1 million in federal disaster assistance for work tied to April storms and flooding, FEMA announced Oct. 22.
The Janesville School District was approved for more than $645,000 to cover emergency protective measures taken during the storms and flooding. The Orfordville Fire Protection District will receive more than $253,000 for repairs to its fire station.
The grants are part of FEMA’s Public Assistance program, which supports eligible recovery costs for public agencies. FEMA said it provides assistance to states, tribes and territories, which determine how the funds can be used most effectively.
