A 56-year-old Janesville man was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of operating while intoxicated after a traffic stop in the Town of Turtle, according to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.

The deputy stopped Dennis Ellis near South Prairie Avenue and East Philhower Road at about 12:25 a.m. on Oct. 24. The sheriff’s office said Ellis showed signs of impairment, leading the deputy to investigate his sobriety.

Ellis was taken to the Rock County Jail. The sheriff’s office said he has five prior OWI convictions, making the new case a felony. He is expected to be scheduled for Jail Court on Thursday, Oct. 29.

An arrest is an allegation, and the charge must be resolved through the court process.
