MADISON, Wis. — Madison’s newest public library branch will open Friday at Reindahl Park, marking the city’s first new Madison Public Library location in 26 years. The Imagination Center is located at 1814 Parkside Drive. The branch includes meeting spaces, outdoor areas and places for visitors to read or relax with a book. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 3 to 4 p.m. Sept. 25. Opening-day activities will continue through the evening, with assistance available from 4 to 8 p.m. for people seeking library cards. A “How-To Corner” will help visitors navigate the card-signup process and other library services. Family activities will take place at the park pavilion from 4 to 5 p.m., followed by an outdoor showing of “Dog Man.” No registration is required for the opening events. The celebration will continue from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26. The day will begin with a nature walk and story time at 10 a.m. The library-card assistance area will reopen, and food trucks will be available for attendees. Madison’s Forward Marching Band is scheduled to perform at 2 p.m., closing out the weekend’s programming. The new branch’s opening comes as public libraries continue to serve as shared community spaces, offering access to books, gathering areas and public programming beyond traditional library services.
