ENDEAVOR, Wis. — A Marquette County Christmas tree farm is set to provide the official White House Christmas tree this year, bringing national attention to a Wisconsin operation with a long record of winning top honors in the industry. Dale Haney, the White House superintendent of grounds, is scheduled to visit Silent Night Evergreens at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, to take part in a selection program and choose the tree that will be displayed at the White House. The selected tree will be marked after the visit and harvested before a presentation ceremony planned for November at the White House’s North Portico. The ceremony will formally introduce the tree before it becomes part of the White House’s holiday decorations. Silent Night Evergreens earned the National Christmas Tree Association’s national grand champion title in 1998, 2003 and 2017. Winners of that competition receive the opportunity to provide the White House Christmas tree, making this the Endeavor farm’s fourth time supplying one. The selection comes 95 days before Christmas and puts a small Wisconsin community and its growers in the national spotlight during the holiday season.
