VERONA, Wis. — A 19-year-old Madison man was arrested after a gun discharged during an attempted home burglary in Verona on Thursday night, according to the Verona Police Department. Officers were called around 9:30 p.m. to the 600 block of Hunter’s Cove Way after a caller reported a burglary in progress and said they heard a gunshot. An officer who was nearby on an unrelated call responded to the home and located the suspect, police said. The suspect, identified by police as Luis Aragon-Zaring, was taken into custody. Officers recovered a gun and a spent shell casing at the scene. Fitch-Rona EMS transported Aragon-Zaring to a hospital for an injury he suffered during the attempted burglary, police said. No one was injured by the gun discharge. Aragon-Zaring is expected to face charges of burglary and first-degree recklessly endangering safety. Police said he will be booked into the Dane County Jail. The allegations have not been tested in court, where the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
