Las Vegas F1 Prep to Bring Overnight Lane Closures, Koval Lane Shutdown and RTC Detours
Organizers of the Las Vegas Grand Prix have released a detailed construction timeline that will close lanes on Sands Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard, shut down a stretch of Koval Lane for 10 days, and disrupt several RTC routes through late November.
Las Vegas residents and transit riders should brace for a wave of overnight lane reductions, pedestrian bridge closures and a lengthy full shutdown of Koval Lane as crews build out the Strip Circuit for the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix.
The work, scheduled to begin the week of Nov. 9, will affect some of the busiest corridors in the resort corridor. According to the preparation timeline, Sands Avenue will see overnight lane reductions from Las Vegas Boulevard to Manhattan Street through Nov. 13, with lanes narrowed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday. One lane will remain open in each direction.
Las Vegas Boulevard will also be reduced overnight from Spring Mountain Road to Harmon Avenue between Nov. 9 and Nov. 13. Those closures are set for midnight to noon, again leaving one lane open in each direction.
Two pedestrian bridges are slated for full closures during the same stretch. The Bellagio-to-Horseshoe bridge and the Harmon Shops-to-Harmon SE Corner bridge will each close from midnight to 9 a.m. on Nov. 11 through Nov. 13, though the schedule lists the closures under the heading âNov. 12 â Nov. 14.â
Drivers should also anticipate periodic two-lane closures at various points along the circuit for gantry installation. From Nov. 10 through Nov. 12, those closures are expected to last about 30 minutes at a time.
The most significant disruption will be on Koval Lane. From Nov. 14 through Nov. 23, the road will be fully closed around the clock between Rochelle Avenue and Harmon Avenue, starting at 12:01 a.m. on Nov. 14 and continuing through race weekend.
Transit riders will feel the effects as well. During the week of Nov. 9 through Nov. 15, several Regional Transportation Commission routes will have temporary stop closures because of construction and race preparations.
Along Koval Lane, seven stops on Route 119 (Koval/Simmons) between Rochelle Avenue and Westchester Drive will remain closed 24 hours a day through Dec. 18. On Sands Avenue, stops 2505 westbound and 2504 eastbound, along with stop 2572 westbound on Spring Mountain Road, will stay closed around the clock through Nov. 25.
The RTC also warned that during gantry installation from Nov. 10 through Nov. 12, two lanes will be closed for about 30 minutes at a time at various points along the circuit, and the Deuce and other Strip-area routes may experience delays. Riders are encouraged to allow extra travel time.
Race Week service changes are planned from Nov. 17 through Nov. 25, when the Deuce and Routes 119 (Simmons/Koval), 202 (Flamingo) and 203 (Spring Mtn./Desert Inn/Lamb) will operate on special routing and schedules. Those schedules are available in the rideRTC app and the Transit app.

The closures come as Las Vegas continues to absorb the annual disruption of hosting a street race through its most heavily trafficked corridors. While the event draws global attention and tourism spending, the weeks of construction and road closures have become a recurring burden for local commuters, hospitality workers and transit-dependent residents. Organizers have pointed to the notification tools as a way to help the public plan around the changes.
