Henderson’s 215 and Green Valley Parkway construction reaches midpoint

A three-mile 215 Beltway expansion and a Green Valley Parkway interchange overhaul are about halfway complete. The projects, including a pedestrian bridge at Village Walk Drive, are scheduled to finish by April 2028.

Henderson’s 215 and Green Valley Parkway construction reaches midpoint

Construction on two major Henderson transportation projects has reached the halfway point, with work underway along the 215 Beltway and at Green Valley Parkway, officials said Oct. 22.

The freeway project covers about three miles between St. Rose Parkway and Stephanie Street. It will add two travel lanes in each direction, along with new LED lighting, signs and pavement. Work began in May 2025.

At Green Valley Parkway and Village Walk Drive, Henderson is building a pedestrian bridge and redesigning the intersection as a diverging diamond interchange. The bridge is intended to let pedestrians cross above the roadway; once it opens, street-level pedestrian crossings will no longer be allowed there.

Kevie Remynse, a Henderson project engineer, said pedestrian crossings currently require traffic signals to stop vehicles, contributing to congestion. The bridge is intended to improve pedestrian safety while keeping vehicles moving more efficiently, Remynse said.

In a diverging diamond interchange, vehicles briefly travel on the opposite side of the road, allowing turns onto freeway ramps without crossing oncoming traffic. Remynse said the design avoids having to widen or replace the existing bridge and reduces potential conflict points. Drivers may need time to adjust to the layout, but engineers expect it to accommodate future traffic volumes, Remynse said.

Both the beltway widening and Green Valley Parkway work are scheduled for completion by April 2028.
