CCSD aide facing abuse allegations is placed on unpaid leave after arrest

A Clark County School District employee accused of child abuse, neglect and endangerment appeared in Las Vegas Justice Court on Monday, Oct. 26, after being arrested the previous week.

Carmen Morris, 42, was assigned a public defender at the hearing. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 8, giving her time to consult with her attorney.

Morris was arrested Oct. 20 and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. The investigation began earlier in October. Details of the allegations were not provided in the court update.

Morris has worked for the district since February 2013 and most recently served as a special education transportation aide. CCSD has instructed her to remain home without pay under the agreement with her bargaining unit.

The charges are allegations, and Morris is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
