JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — State Rep. Angie Nixon, a candidate for the U.S. Senate, joined voters, volunteers and supporters in Jacksonville on Oct. 24 for a march encouraging people to vote early as Election Day approaches.

The gathering included music, food trucks and community outreach. Organizers also called voters across Florida to urge them to cast ballots.

Nixon said the event was an opportunity for communities to come together. Voter Amy Hogan said she wanted turnout to reflect unity and show that people were participating. Volunteer Jessica Machin said voting could give people facing financial stress a way to make their needs heard.

The campaign did not provide a turnout estimate for the event. Asked about U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody’s voting plans, her office said it would share information when it became available.
