United to Launch JacksonvilleâSan Francisco Nonstop Flights in March
United Airlines will begin twice-weekly nonstop service between Jacksonville and San Francisco on March 29, filling one of the region's largest underserved markets and opening one-stop connections to Asia and the Pacific.
United Airlines will launch nonstop flights between Jacksonville International Airport and San Francisco on March 29, giving Northeast Florida travelers a direct coast-to-coast link and a gateway to destinations across the Pacific, the airline and airport authority announced.
The service will operate year-round twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, using a Boeing 737-800. Flights from Jacksonville are scheduled to depart at about 5:45 p.m., while the return leg from San Francisco is set to leave at about 8:15 a.m.
Jacksonville Aviation Authority CEO Mark VanLoh said the San Francisco Bay Area has been one of the region's largest underserved markets.
"United's new nonstop flight not only provides us much-needed access to the West Coast, but it also unlocks convenient connecting service to Asia," VanLoh said.
The schedule is designed to let travelers from Jacksonville make one-stop connections through United's San Francisco hub to Pacific destinations including Sydney, Singapore, Hawaii, Hong Kong and Manila.
"With this new route, travelers in Northeast Florida will be able to conveniently reach the West Coast and from there, destinations across the Pacific with United's leading global route network from our San Francisco hub," said Mark Weithofer, managing director of domestic network planning at United.
United already flies nonstop from Jacksonville to its hubs in Chicago, Denver, Houston, Newark and Washington, D.C. The new route adds a West Coast option and a direct link to one of the country's busiest international gateways.
Tickets for the San Francisco flights can be booked through the airline's website.
