Ponte Vedra was expected to secure a postseason berth by winning one of its final two games; its Week 11 opponent was district champion Creekside.
Nease entered the game after recovering from a 1-3 start, which included losses to Creekside, St. Augustine and Mandarin. Ponte Vedra had won the previous three meetings in the series, while the Sharks led the all-time record 12-5, with those 12 wins coming consecutively.
