Family to Hold Vigil for 20-Year-Old Killed in Jacksonville Halloween Party Shooting
Isaiah Henry Goodson, 20, was killed and nine others injured when gunfire erupted outside a Westside house party on Halloween weekend. His family will gather Sunday for a vigil and balloon release.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. â The family of Isaiah Henry Goodson will gather Sunday afternoon to celebrate the life of the 20-year-old, who was killed in a shooting outside a Westside house party that left nine other people injured.
The vigil is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, according to a memorial announcement shared by his family. Family members said they want the community to join them in sharing memories and honoring Goodson's life.
"Let's come together to honor Isaiah Goodson. We are asking everyone â family, friends, loved ones, and the community to come together as one to honor and celebrate the life of our beloved Isaiah Goodson," the family said in the announcement.
The memorial describes Goodson as having a beautiful life, a loving spirit and a kind heart. His aunt previously told reporters that he was a hardworking, family-oriented young man who stayed out of trouble.
"He was a very loving person, didn't get in any trouble. He was hard-working and very family oriented," she said.
Goodson was killed in a shooting around 3:50 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, near Wilcox and 5th streets, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Officers responding to reports of multiple people shot found Goodson wounded at the scene. He later died at a hospital.
Nine other people were injured, including a 15-year-old girl. Police said the other victims ranged in age from 20 to 25. One woman was in life-threatening condition, while the remaining victims were listed as stable.
Investigators believe the house party on 5th Street drew between 100 and 200 people, with attendees spilling into the streets. Two rounds of gunfire were reported in quick succession, and investigators believe most of the victims were shot during the second volley.
The shooting was one of six violent encounters over Halloween weekend in Jacksonville that left 17 people shot and three killed, including an officer-involved shooting.
The family has also created a GoFundMe campaign for those who wish to offer financial support.
A balloon release is planned following the memorial, and this story will be updated.
