Irving school bond would rebuild five campuses and raise taxes on median-value home
Irving ISD is putting a $952 million bond proposal before voters in November to fund campus reconstruction, technology, cybersecurity and security work. The district estimates the package would add $20.83 a month to the property tax bill on a $340,000 home.
Irving ISD voters will decide in November whether to approve a $952 million bond package that would pay for renovations and other districtwide improvements, including rebuilding five aging campuses.
The four-part proposal also includes technology upgrades, cybersecurity enhancements and safety and security improvements across the district. The district estimates that approval would increase property taxes by $20.83 per month for a home valued at $340,000, the median home value in the district.
District leaders say aging school buildings need attention. Four of the campuses slated for replacement date to the 1950s and 1960s.
The bond would be only the district’s second in nearly two decades. In 2023, voters approved three of five bond propositions put forward by the district. That was the first time Irving ISD had passed a bond proposal in 16 years.
The November vote will determine whether the district can move ahead with the projects and finance them through the proposed bond. The listed tax estimate is tied to a $340,000 home; individual tax impacts would vary with property value.
