Three children die in overnight fire at Canton-area home
A fire reported shortly after midnight at a home off County Road 4127 in Canton killed children ages 3, 5 and 8. A 10-year-old boy and an adult woman were hospitalized in critical condition; investigators have not determined the cause.
Three children died and two people were critically injured in an overnight house fire near Canton, according to the Van Zandt County fire marshal.
The children who died were 3, 5 and 8 years old. A 10-year-old boy and an adult woman were taken to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where they were reported to be in critical condition.
Emergency crews received a call at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday reporting people trapped inside a home off County Road 4127, the fire marshal said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The fire marshal said additional information was expected later Wednesday.
