Lavon voters will decide in the Nov. 3 election whether the city should establish the Lavon Municipal Development District and impose a 0.5% sales and use tax to fund projects deemed beneficial to the district.
The measure, listed as City of Lavon Proposition 1, asks voters to vote “For” or “Against” creating the district and levying the half-cent tax. The ballot language describes the purpose as financing development projects but does not identify specific projects.
Early voting is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 19, through Friday, Oct. 30. Election Day polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; voters who are in line by 7 p.m. may cast a ballot.
