Mundelein police investigate home near Prairie and Wellington avenues
Mundelein police led an overnight investigation at a home in the Lake County suburb, with the county’s Major Crimes Task Force assisting. Officials said there was no threat to the public, but had not released details about what prompted the investigation as of early Monday.
A police investigation was underway Monday at a home near Prairie and Wellington avenues in Mundelein, where yellow tape surrounded the property and officers were seen entering and leaving the house overnight and into the morning.
The Mundelein Police Department is leading the investigation, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said. The Lake County Major Crimes Task Force assisted with evidence collection, and the Lake County Coroner was also at the scene.
The task force assists local agencies with cases including homicides, suspicious deaths, deaths in custody, officer-involved shootings and other serious crimes. Its presence, however, does not establish what happened at the Mundelein home.
A law enforcement official at the scene told a photographer there was no threat to the public. As of early Monday, authorities had not publicly disclosed the reason for the investigation or provided other details. Mundelein police had not immediately responded to a request for information.
