A moped rider was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon in a collision with an Illinois State Police officer near DuPage Airport in West Chicago, authorities said.
The crash happened just after 12:30 p.m. on Tower Road as the officer was leaving the airport grounds, according to state police. The moped driver was thrown from the vehicle and later taken to a hospital. The rider was recovering there, authorities said.
The officer was not injured. Illinois State Police said an investigation is underway; no further details about the circumstances of the collision were provided.
