Lake County jury finds former Park City officer guilty in assaults during traffic stops

A Lake County jury found former Park City police officer Patrick Cacho guilty Wednesday, Oct. 21, of sexually abusing a woman during two traffic stops in the northern suburbs in December 2025 and January 2026, prosecutors said.

Cacho, 29, was convicted of 20 felony counts, including aggravated criminal sexual abuse, criminal sexual abuse, aggravated battery and official misconduct.

Prosecutors said Cacho threatened the woman with criminal charges before assaulting her. They said he did not turn on his body-worn camera or record either traffic stop.

A friend of the woman later reported the assaults to Park City police. Illinois State Police arrested Cacho in April after an investigation that included phone records supporting the woman’s allegations, prosecutors said.

Cacho faces up to seven years in prison for the most serious charge and must register as a sex offender for life. He is scheduled to return to court Dec. 17.
