A man was shot and killed Monday evening in a shooting involving an FBI agent near West 18th Street and South Union Avenue in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, authorities said.
The Cook County medical examiner confirmed the death early Tuesday. The man’s identity was not immediately released in the information available, and authorities have not described what led to the shooting.
The FBI said it is reviewing the incident, which occurred Oct. 26, and that the agency’s Inspection Division is conducting the review under FBI policy. The bureau said it had no further details to provide while the matter remains ongoing.
Multiple Chicago police and other law enforcement vehicles were at the scene around 6 p.m. Monday. A black sedan was visible inside an area secured with crime-scene tape. The outbound Dan Ryan Expressway exit to 18th Street was closed amid the police response.
