SUV-train collision sends one person to hospital in Belmont
One person was taken to a hospital after an SUV collided with a Charlotte & Western train in Belmont early Wednesday. Acme Road was temporarily closed while police investigated.
One person was taken to a hospital after an SUV collided with a Charlotte & Western train in Belmont early Wednesday, Oct. 21, authorities said.
The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. at Cason Street, off Perfection Avenue. Images from the scene showed damage to the SUV’s front end; the vehicle appeared to have struck the side of the train.
Gaston County EMS confirmed the person was transported to a hospital. Their condition was not immediately available.
Acme Road was temporarily closed in both directions after the crash. The location did not cause major traffic problems, according to the report. Belmont police are investigating what led to the collision.
