A 26-year-old man was arrested after a vehicle reported stolen in Lynn with a child in the back seat was stopped in Everett. Police said the child was safe and reunited with their parents Monday night.
A 26-year-old Malden man is expected in court Tuesday after police say he took a vehicle in Lynn while a 6-year-old child was inside.
Everett police identified the suspect as Marvin Kentrez Pryien. He faces allegations including kidnapping and reckless endangerment of a child, and police said he also had an outstanding arrest warrant. It was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney.
Lynn police said they received a report Monday of a stolen vehicle near 309 Boston Street, with the child in the back seat. Police identified the vehicle and alerted nearby departments and Massachusetts State Police. Authorities also began the process for an AMBER Alert.
Everett police found the vehicle and stopped it. Pryien was taken into custody, and the child was brought to Mass General Hospital in Boston for evaluation. Lynn police escorted a parent to the hospital. Police said the child was fine and reunited with their parents Monday night.
Everett police initially booked Pryien and said they would pursue several motor vehicle-related charges. Lynn police later took custody of him as he was being transported back to face additional charges. Police have not released further details.
