Lynn car theft ends in Everett with child safe and driver in custody

A 6-year-old child was found safe Monday after a car reported stolen in Lynn traveled through Revere and was stopped by police on Revere Beach Parkway in Everett, authorities said.

Lynn police received a report at about 4:45 p.m. that a car had been taken from Boston Street with the child in the back seat. The white car was located roughly seven miles away in Everett, where police surrounded it and took the driver into custody.

Police notified nearby departments and Massachusetts State Police and began the process of issuing an AMBER Alert before the car was stopped. The child was transported by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for evaluation and was later reunited with family.

Police have not said whether the driver knew the family or what led to the car being taken. The suspect was expected to appear in Lynn District Court on Tuesday.
