Former Red Line inspector admits role in MBTA records and overtime scheme

A former MBTA track inspector pleaded guilty Thursday to conspiring to falsify Red Line track inspection reports and committing overtime fraud, federal prosecutors said.

Andy Vicente, 37, of Bridgwater, was one of five former MBTA employees arrested in May 2025 in the investigation. He had worked at Cabot Yard in South Boston, a facility used to store and maintain Red Line trains.

Prosecutors accused Vicente and other workers of using a garage at the transit facility to repair private vehicles. The guilty plea adds to a federal case alleging misconduct by multiple MBTA employees involving inspection records and overtime.

The information released about Vicente’s plea did not specify the amount of overtime involved or what sentence he may face.
