Two killed, two wounded in West Baltimore shooting near Leon Day Park
Two men were killed and two others were wounded in a West Baltimore shooting Friday near Ellicott Drive, police said. The shooting happened close to Leon Day Park, where 12-year-old Khloe Ishway was killed by a stray bullet the previous weekend. Police began receiving calls about the Friday shooting around 5 p.m. Officers found an 18-year-old man with gunshot wounds; paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. Three other men later arrived at a hospital. A 19-year-old died there, while men ages 21 and 22 remained hospitalized and were expected to survive. Residents said the latest violence has added to their fears. Kendra, who lives in the area, said crime-scene tape and shell casings remained when she arrived. “It’s not fair for people to suffer from stuff that they had nothing to do with it,” she said. Kendra called for the city to come together and help young people, saying families are losing sons in tragic circumstances. Her concerns follow the recent killing of Ishway near the park. Police said that shooting stemmed from a dispute over a parking space; reporting on the case said the alleged shooter had been released from custody eight days earlier. Homicide detectives are investigating Friday’s shooting. Police had announced no arrests as of Saturday night and asked anyone with information to contact them. Anonymous tips can be made through Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
