Burglars take vintage Ravens gear from Federal Hill shop
Thieves took about half the sales-floor inventory from Retrospect MD on South Charles Street early Wednesday, police said. The owner hopes the distinctive vintage items can be traced as he works to reopen the store.
A burglary early Wednesday left Retrospect MD, a vintage Baltimore sportswear shop in Federal Hill, with a smashed storefront and roughly half its sales-floor inventory gone, owner MJ Broderick said.
Baltimore Police said two men entered the business in the 900 block of South Charles Street around 5:30 a.m. Oct. 14, took merchandise and loaded it into a vehicle before leaving. No one was injured, and no arrests had been announced as of Thursday.
The stolen items included sweatshirts, shorts, T-shirts and Ravens hats, Broderick said, as well as vintage Ravens clothing and expensive jackets from the team’s 1990s era. He said the damage to the storefront was a shock after more than two years in business, describing the city as supportive of his shop and brand.
Broderick plans to reopen by Wednesday, Oct. 21. He is asking people to contact him through the shop’s social media if they see vintage Ravens clothing bearing a Retrospect MD tag listed for sale online, saying the pieces are distinctive and may be recognizable.
The burglary also renewed concerns for neighboring salon owner Michelle Vigliarolo, whose business has been in the area for nine years. She said she has witnessed other incidents nearby and is weighing whether to renew her lease, which is up Nov. 1. Vigliarolo said crime has been a factor in her conversations with her landlord since the beginning of summer.
