Turnovers and missed free throws doom Dream in 67-62 Game 4 loss

The Atlanta Dream’s bid to take a 3-1 lead in the WNBA Finals fell short Saturday, as the Golden State Valkyries won 67-62 in Atlanta to even the series at two games apiece.

Atlanta struggled to get its offense moving early. The Valkyries took a 16-11 lead after the first quarter, forcing seven Dream turnovers in the period. By halftime, Atlanta had committed 14 turnovers, while missed free throws also undermined its effort to close the gap.

The Dream fought back in the second half but could not complete the comeback. Rhyne Howard led Atlanta with 19 points and eight rebounds. Jordin Canada and rookie Isobel Borlase each added 10 points, while Angel Reese had eight points and nine rebounds.

Golden State’s Gabby Williams scored 17 points. Tiffany Hayes and Veronica Burton added 13 apiece for the Valkyries, who capitalized on Atlanta’s early mistakes to keep the game within reach on their terms.

The series now stands 2-2 after Atlanta won Game 3 to take the lead. The teams will return to the court with the championship still undecided.
