MARTA to pull outdated train ad listing 2024 Election Day date

A voter-outreach poster on a MARTA train urged riders to plan for Nov. 5, the wrong date for Georgia’s 2026 election. The transit agency says it will ask its advertising contractor to remove the old ad, which also has an inactive QR code.

MARTA to pull outdated train ad listing 2024 Election Day date

MARTA plans to remove an outdated voter-outreach advertisement that told train riders to make a plan to vote on Nov. 5 — the date of the 2024 election, not this year’s Election Day.

The poster was spotted on a train Thursday, Oct. 15. It included a QR code that no longer works, according to MARTA spokesperson Payson Schwin, who said the agency would ask Intersection, the company that manages advertising across the transit system, to take it down.

Georgia’s 2026 Election Day is Nov. 3. Early voting began Oct. 13 and is scheduled to continue through Oct. 30, giving voters several days to cast ballots before Election Day.

The incorrect date could mislead riders trying to make voting plans during a busy midterm election period. The message on the poster encouraged people to plan for a day that has already passed as Election Day; Nov. 5 last fell on Election Day in 2024.
