U-Haul Offers 30 Days of Free Storage to North Georgia Flood Victims

MCCAYSVILLE, Ga. — Residents and business owners reeling from severe flooding in Fannin County and surrounding north Georgia communities can now access a month of free storage, U-Haul Co. of Atlanta North announced. The company is offering 30 days of complimentary self-storage and portable container rentals at 14 facilities across the region.

The relief effort comes after torrential rainfall from Wednesday night into Thursday morning sent floodwaters surging through towns near the Tennessee border, causing extensive water damage to homes and commercial properties. Many displaced families and business owners are now grappling with where to safely store belongings while they clean up and rebuild.

The offer applies to new self-storage units and U-Box portable containers, subject to availability at participating locations. For U-Box rentals, the free period covers on-site storage at the facility; home delivery of containers is available for a modest additional fee.

Participating locations include facilities in Alpharetta, Buford, Canton, Cumming, Dalton, Holly Springs, Jasper, Lawrenceville, Lilburn, Norcross, Rome, Snellville and Woodstock.

U-Haul, which serves as an official disaster responder in partnership with the American Red Cross, said immediate access to secure storage is critical for recovery when severe weather strikes. For customers who need storage beyond the initial 30 days, the company offers a one-year fixed-rate program at its 2,100 company-owned facilities across the U.S. and Canada, with a price-lock guarantee and no administration fees or security deposits.

Residents affected by the flooding can arrange free storage by visiting any company-owned facility in the affected areas or by calling the regional office at (770) 926-1340.

The flooding has already disrupted water service and closed roads in McCaysville, where recovery efforts are ongoing. The free storage offer is one of several relief measures emerging as the community begins to rebuild.
