Second teenager arrested after fatal shooting at Gainesville Walmart

A second teenager has been arrested in the fatal shooting of an 81-year-old bystander outside a Gainesville Walmart, police said.

Erron Lamar Dorsey, 17, surrendered to authorities in East Point on Friday morning, Oct. 23, according to the Gainesville Police Department. He is being held at the Hall County Jail. Police credited the East Point and Murfreesboro, Tennessee, police departments with helping locate and apprehend him.

Dorsey and Kamari Nehemiah Tilmuth, 18, are each charged with felony murder, four counts of aggravated assault and possessing a firearm during the commission of a crime. Tilmuth was arrested Sunday, police said. The charges are allegations; the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Police said officers were called to the Walmart at 400 Shallowford Road shortly after 7 p.m. Oct. 14. Investigators say a fight began inside the store and continued into the parking lot, where Dorsey and Tilmuth allegedly fired at a group of men.

McDaniel, who police described as an innocent bystander, was struck elsewhere in the parking lot. He died from his injuries. His family has described him as a great-grandfather, Navy veteran and former postal employee. An online fundraiser has been established to support the family.
