Florida arrest adds third defendant in fatal Austell rail-yard shooting
Ty Anthony Thompson, 27, was arrested in Florida in connection with the Sept. 14 killing of Norfolk Southern contractor Curdravious Clark at a Cobb County rail terminal. He faces felony murder and aggravated assault charges and is expected to be extradited to Georgia.
A third suspect has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a Norfolk Southern contractor at a rail terminal in Austell, Cobb County police said.
Ty Anthony Thompson, 27, was taken into custody Thursday by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. He faces charges of felony murder and aggravated assault and is expected to be extradited to Georgia, authorities said.
The shooting happened at about 10 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Whitaker Intramodal Terminal, a Norfolk Southern property on Dr. Luke Glenn Jr. Memorial Highway where the company transfers freight between trains. Police responded to the railway yard after a contractor was shot in the parking lot. The worker was taken to a hospital and later died.
Cobb County police identified the victim as 27-year-old Curdravious Clark. Norfolk Southern said after the shooting that it was grieving the loss of a colleague and that company police and Cobb County police were investigating.
Two other men were arrested last month: Keondre Johnson, 28, and Michael Riles, 26. They also face murder-related charges in the case. The charges against all three are allegations; the available information does not describe what investigators believe each suspect did.
